The transition from the series Neon Genesis Evangelion – which ended in the late 1990s – and the tetralogy of Rebuilding Evangelion – the film project that held the spot up until this year – was relatively painless for fans, who found the first film a revival of events already covered in the series.
However, over time everything changed, leading to the end of Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0, this time the definitive conclusion of the saga with robots designed by Hideaki Anno. Not only the plot is different, especially from the second film, but also the characters involved. It’s always Shinji Ikari, Rei and Ayanami in action Asuka Langley, true backbone of the series, along with characters like Gendo and Misato, but other pilots were also introduced alongside them who were virtually absent in the original series.
Mari Makinami Illustrious is also introduced to the tetralogy of Evangelion, a bespectacled brown-haired girl who wears a pink and white jumpsuit to guide her Eva. The Fourth Child doesn’t have as many fans as the series’ two historical protagonists, but it does have its followers. Japanese cosplayers Megu and Mapi each created one Mari cosplay and an Asuka cosplay, along with extravagant suits and weapons at hand in the photos available below.
Here is a solo cosplay of Asuka in a white jumpsuit by Shirogane-sama.
