There are many unsolved mysteries in ONE PIECE. Eiichiro Oda will have to do a great job in the years to come to be able to connect everything satisfactorily without missing out on anything, thereby completing the puzzle that readers have been dreaming of for decades to be complete. AND One of those key points is Joy Boy.
The pirate who came to Laugh Tale and left the mythical treasure found centuries later by Gol D. Roger and his crew is a big question mark. Joy Boy left many of his memories in the world of ONE PIECE, some already discovered by the Straw Hat Pirates, but their role seems to go beyond that of the simple body figure of their time. It appears to have a legacy that is being passed on and many expect Luffy to be the new heir to that spirit.
In the past, Kaido thought he might be Joy Boy’s heir. Between flashbacks and current facial expressions, however, things change in the emperor’s eyes, especially when he thought he found a new Joy Boy in Luffy in the fight at Onigashima and then changed his mind after beating him the first time. Than usual when he fights with Luffy Kaido is very happy and they laughsuggesting that Kaido knows something about Joy Boy, perhaps thanks to the poneglyph in Wano or others he met in his pirate career.
The expressions gathered in Jason Klum’s tweet in the last few chapters of ONE PIECE suggest something: What does Kaido know?
Just by the look on Kaido’s face you can tell how different he was, he had that determination in his eyes and the ambition that you see in Luffy and Roger. I believe when Luffy challenged him he brought the old Kaido back, but it was short-lived as Kaido defeated him pic.twitter.com/95HZYe3b6b
