While A PIECE by Eiichiro Oda has continued uninterruptedly as both manga and anime for decades, the same cannot be said Bleach from Tite Kubowhich ended on both Weekly Shonen Jump’s pages and in its anime.
But since the Bleach anime is set to make a big comeback with the anime adaptation of the Thousand-Year Blood War Arc, ONE PIECE creator Eiichiro Oda had a few words to say about the return of the Soul Society, with a alleged rivalry between the two creators which seems to be fresh in the memory of the mangaka.
In a recent interview, Oda left some statements in particular about Bleach and Tite Kubo and mentioned the rivalry between two of the creators of the Phantom Big Three shonen, who have long made a name for themselves in the world of anime and manga:
“Years ago Kubo announced publicly on the radio: ‘I hate Oda‘. Would you like to know if I hold a grudge against Kubo? Yes, I have! Other than that, I didn’t find his entire statement to be particularly impolite. Actually, I don’t mind if Kubo considers his audacity to make such a statement publicly. lol“
Eiichiro then took the opportunity to praise Tite Kubo, recognizing the hard work the mangaka has put into Bleach over the years to tell the story of Ichigo Kurosaki and the Soul Society:
“I remember Kubo’s manga debut since we’re about the same age. I thought,”Wow, this new mangaka has good drawing skills. His idea is also good. His drawings eloquently tell us that he’s a pretty confident boy. ‘ Now that he mentioned me that much, I am posting here with 100% confidence that someone like Kubo is a competitive super worker. You must be embarrassed now, Tite Kubo. lol
You work hard! Congratulations on Bleach’s 20th anniversary! Let’s go have a drink together soon. “
While ONE PIECE could be completed within the next five years, Bleach’s recent return to the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump through its one-shot special could hint at more stories to follow Soul Society in the future.
