Demon Slayer 2×01 was presented on Crunchyroll on Sunday, October 10th, 2021. The return of the record breaking anime delighted the entire audience, who thanks to the various services were able to watch the first episode around the world. It begins with the bow of the Mugen train, revised and expanded by Ufotable on the occasion of the television broadcast.
As we know, after this 7-episode phase, the actual unpublished narrative arc begins on December 5th, the saga of the red light district, which will accompany us for several months. However, considering that the anime was released as a 2-cour. announced, or that it will air in both the fall of 2021 and winter of 2022, it was natural to think that the anime would have hit the classic 25 episodes, maybe even the 26 seen in season one. Nothing could be wrong anymore, at least according to the iQIYI International catalog.
The page discovered by various MangAnimeMy insiders lists the Demon Slayer Season 2 with a total of only 18 episodes.7 are absent compared to the original forecasts. As a result, Demon Slayer 2 will be a much shorter season than expected except for reversals, and unreleased content will be concentrated in 11 episodes, practically like a seasonal 1-cour anime. We will therefore only see Tanjiro and the others in action in two narrative arcs and not in three, during the revival of the Mugen Zug saga and the new Red Light District saga.
It is not clear why this choice was made and we just have to wait for an official confirmation of the production status for now.
