A press release this morning confirmed the leak and officially announced the production of a second season of the anime adaptation of the manga by Takumi fukui and Shinya Umemura, and illustrated by Ajichika, Shuumatsu not a valkyrie (Record of Ragnarok). The statement did not reveal the production details or the premiere date, but did suggest that the first season will air on television in Japan from October 1, so more details could be expected at that time.
The artist Masaki Saito, who is responsible for character design for production, shared a special illustration to celebrate the production decision for a second season.
The first season premiered in the platform’s catalog worldwide Netflix on June 17th with a total of twelve episodes. For their part, Fukui, Umemura and Ajichika began publishing the manga through the magazine Monthly comic Zenon from the publisher Tokuma Shoten in November 2017.

- Masao Okubo (Episodes 3-9 of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) was responsible for directing the anime in the studios Grafinica (Hellsing Ultimate, Juuni taisen).
- Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Majo no tabitabi) was responsible for writing and overseeing the scripts.
- Masaki Saito was responsible for the character design.
- Yasuharu Takanashi (Naruto Shippuden) was responsible for composing the soundtrack.
- MAXIMUM THE HORMONE played the opening song entitled “KAMIGAMI” while SymaG played the final song entitled “Fukahi”.
Shuumatsu no Valkyrie synopsis
High above the human kingdom, the gods of the world have come together to decide on a single question: the continued existence of humanity. Under the head of Zeus, the deities of ancient Greece, Norse mythology and Hinduism, among others, gather in a gathering every thousand years to decide the fate of mankind. Due to their relentless abuse of one another and the planet, the gods are voting unanimously for the end of humanity this time.
