The official website of Space battleship Yamato reveals that the film project Space battleship Yamato 2205 will debut in Japanese theaters on October 8, 2021, with the first of two films that will be the sequel to Space battleship Yamato 2202. The website also confirms that the home video release will arrive in a very short time, in November to be precise.
For those unfamiliar with the subject, keep in mind that the new feature film is part of a series of remakes inspired by the original Leiji Matsumoto films that were distributed in Japan from the late 1970s to the early 2000s. The first film in the remake series was released in 2012 under the title Space battleship Yamato 2199, while the second came with the title in 2017 Space battleship Yamato 2202.
Space battleship Yamato 2205 is the third film in the series and should have been released in winter 2020, but apparently Covid-19 slowed production and forced the guys at Studio Xebec to postpone it. Today we finally have the release date of the first of the two parts that will make up the feature film while Nothing is known about the second part yet. In all cases, the waiting time should not be longer than two or three months.
For this film, too, production is at full capacity again, with all voice actors ready to repeat their roles. You can check out the new poster for the film below.
