Homura, LiSA’s single, composed especially for Demon Slayer: Infinity Train, was confirmed number 1 on Oricon’s digital sales charts for the 13th straight weekend, setting a new personal best for the singer. In addition, the song has already recorded 843,281 downloads 150,000 fewer than Gurenge achieved in a year.
Last month, Homura broke a new record after ranking first place in sales for eleven weeksand beats the ten weekends of Kenshi Yonezu’s “Lemon”, the previous record holder. The track has also sold more than 250,000 physical copies and was awarded double platinum by the Association of the Recording Industry of Japan (RIAJ).
Gurenge, the theme song from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, stayed in the top 10 most downloaded songs in Japan for 27 consecutive weeks, scoring a total of 44 or more times in 2020 third track in Oricon’s digital sales history with more than one million downloads (as well as first wife). Homura should break the record easily enough with no sensational last-minute surprises.
As for streaming playback, Homura has 40 million streams on Spotify and over 125 million on YouTube. The second is a record for the singer, while Spotify will find it harder to reach Gurenge, which now has well over 130 million games.
