Mission:03 Objective: Enter Eden

SPY x FAMILY Chapter three begins with a political overview of the situation in the series and the importance of Twilight’s mission. Continuing with the above, a new member joins the Forger family, Yor will be the mother of this crazy family. In order not to fail the school interview, Loid decides to practice with Anya and Yor, but things don’t go very well. To change the mood, the three of them go for a walk as a family, but each individual’s idiosyncrasies come to light. Although in the end they manage to bond better if together they manage to stop a thief. With a new sense of togetherness, you may be 1% better prepared for the job interview.

Mission:04 Objective: Pass the interview

SPY x FAMILY Chapter four begins with the forgers ready to go to Eden for the interview. The selection process is very strict and from the moment they enter the school they are already evaluated. However, this is not a problem for Loid’s thorough preparation. And despite the problems, the counterfeiters manage to get to the interview perfectly and on time. Although the interview starts off without a hitch, Mayor Swan’s comments manage to hurt Anya and anger Loid and Yor, leading to an abrupt end to the interview. Loid regrets giving in to her feelings, but what’s done is done. Now she could only pull off a miracle, luckily they still have the good opinion of Henderson and Walter, the other two quartermasters.

a peculiar family

Finally the Forger family is complete, they have a father, a mother and a cute daughter. And as if that weren’t enough, the father is a spy, the mother is a hitman and the daughter is a mind-reading esper. Without fear of mistakes we can say that it is a perfect and balanced family, more functional than many, even if it is wrong. Of course, they got off to a slightly awkward start, after all they are still three strangers who become family from nothing. But once the initial awkwardness wore off, all three proved very good in their respective roles. Their first outing as a family showed us that although they are very different and all have their own specificities, they still reflect a family atmosphere.

His family aura gained confidence on his first outing, but is reaffirmed when he enters Eden for his interview. Let’s remember that everyone is evaluated as soon as they enter the institution. If they really didn’t look like family they would have been disqualified the moment they came in. But not only was that not the case, they even caught the attention of one of the mayors, showing that the counterfeiters are undoubtedly a harmonious family, at least from the outside. Loid’s efforts have undoubtedly paid off as his fake daughter and wife can help him complete the mission. Which isn’t that complicated, since both Anya and Yor respect and trust Loid, they’re not really far from being real family.

cooperation

It should be made clear that the Forgers are not just an apparent family, their teamwork underscores the natural unity they have. This shows not only in his excellent cooperation in stopping the thief or avoiding accidents in the Eden entrance test, but also in simpler actions. Perhaps the best example is her role at home, which everyone has mastered and held onto. Even in their small treats there is harmony, the moments when the three sit in the living room sipping their favorite hot beverage is quite the family portrait. With these two episodes they have shown us that the Forgers work as a family, not only in looks but also in the bond they have formed.

It is clear that an important detail in his adjustment to this new family environment lies in his lack of common sense. In fact, the fact that each has a secret identity for the others drives the union of this family. The parents’ profession and Anya’s skills complement each other very well, even if they are not aware of it. At this point we should put all the emphasis on the two scenes of teamwork. During the thieving incident, it was physical ability, insight, and mind reading that led to her successful capture. Skills that empower everyone. The same goes for the entrance test, Loid’s foresight, Yor’s knowledge and physical ability, and Anya’s ability to read resulted in them completing the mission without serious problems.

A family protects itself

Even though the counterfeiters are a makeshift family, that doesn’t mean they don’t have feelings. We all know that Anya is happy with her new family and will do anything to not lose them. And while it’s just a cloak for Loid and Yor, both were inevitably seduced by the warmth of home. Not surprisingly, they both lost their tempers when they saw Mayor Swan pressuring Anya. Both are concerned in their own way about the girl’s past experiences and the last thing they want is to be reminded of it in such a rude way. Again they showed with their actions that they are already a family. Loid gave up her mission for her and Yor was willing to break her cover to protect her daughter. You are the best family.

Final comment

SPY x FAMILY Chapters three and four were episodes of fun, emotion, and family warmth. These past episodes let us see a more complete portrait of the Forger family, which only made us love them even more. Anya’s Innocence, Yor’s Madness and Loid’s Adventures will no doubt be the perfect spice for our Saturdays. The quality of the anime is one of the best of the season, the animation, the music and even the story have shown that they will completely captivate us from this peculiar family.

Before I close with this review, all I can say is that the ending is a joy. The song “Kigeki” by Gen Hoshino is perfect to close a good episode of comedy, action and a bit of drama, very little. The picture is even better, seeing the detail of Anya’s world taking on color thanks to her family makes this ending not only beautiful aesthetically but also emotionally.

As far as the review goes, I’ll leave the usual questions: What do you think of these chapters? What has been your favorite character so far? What do you think will happen to the Forger family after they screw up their job interview?
