Chapter 12: Where the promise was made
We begin chapter twelve ofGleipnir Going back months in the past with a boy named Naoto talking with Kaito about his girlfriend Aiko and how he has been behaving differently, to the point of not looking like herself, then they let him go through how strange he sounded, Kaito asks Naoto to Bring everyone together and meet. Already being together Kaito finds out that Honoko is missing after her father was arrested for possible murder, she also realized that everyone was aware and nobody had told her anything. Aiko tries to persuade Kaito to forget about the subject and not search for her by ensuring that this is very difficult for all of them and that Honoko very likely does not want to be searched. This was enough for Kaito to decide to look for Honoko and find out what happened, he noticed a characteristic habit of Honoko in Aiko, in addition to a suspicious attitude.
Kaito began to follow Aiko everywhere, arriving at the Hotel just after Aiko left, where the alien is located and from whom he learns that Aiko is actually Honoko. This boy insists on doing something about it thinking the worst of Honoko but without being certain of anything. From here a very large misunderstanding develops that ends up causing Kaito to kill Honoko or, now Aiko. The truth resulted in tragedy since, as they knew, Honoko did nothing to Aiko, she simply committed suicide and Honoko took her place. Naoto and the others did not speak openly of what they thought, things went off course and resulted in Kaito not supporting the idea of Honoko disappearing and ended up killing Aiko.
Chapter 13: The two of us are one
Chapter thirteen begins when Shuichi and Clair meet in a parking lot with Yoshioka to ask them to hand over all the coins so they can take over and the others return to their normal lives. Yoshioka and the others lead Shuichi and Claire to believe that they will give them the coins but actually agree to give them to Elena. Clair is suspicious and goes to Shuichi’s house where she realizes what is the reality in which she lives, she makes him notice it and he remembers that his parents died and that he had already been like this with Elena. While this is happening Koyanagi calls Shuichi to meet up and give him the coins. Clair realizes they were tricked and tries to catch up with Shuichi in the river. Isao is still very affected by what happened but still they tell him where Yoshioka will be.
Shuichi and Clair ask Elena to clear things up but before she takes out the stuffed animal she found making Shuichi’s memories return, Elena tries to get to him and they start a fight until Aiko appears and it is almost impossible to defend against her. Fortunately Elena managed to erase Shuichi’s memories in time, as well as the bond that unites them all before Aiko assassinated him. Shuichi lets Elena know that he is not going to give up and that he will try to end it all by collecting the 100 coins. In addition to assuring him that he will carry the weight for the crimes he had to commit, Elena assures him that it will soon be over but he decides that he will be safe in his search with Clair.
The tragic friends Honoko and Aiko
Honoko is a kind character who suffers mostly in silence and is dependent on her best friend Aiko, her life was already miserable in itself so that Aiko decided to commit suicide after going through a lot of bullying at school leaving her alone in a horrible world . Honoko realizes that her existence is indifferent to the world, that she is alone and with cold relatives who do not care about her, she understands that nobody would do anything if one day she simply disappears, that nobody would suffer her absence, instead Aiko is very important for many people, if she disappeared the world of several people would be hurt forever.
Honoko wanted to erase herself and become someone else, at the same time someone she loved had decided to leave this world, she without any ambition simply decided to take it to start again and along the way not hurt everyone with Aiko’s departure. It is sad that it did not help and that this misunderstanding resulted in a double tragedy.
The dark past becoming present
When they were going to imagine that a series of unrelated events between Aiko and Honoko would work so well to unite their lives and destinies forever, even in death, the sad thing is that although it sounds romantic it is not sweet rather It hurts a little, it was an unfortunate situation for everyone from the first moment, I only leave scars and mental gaps that make the truth something full of nuances.
All the people involved share the weight of the tragedy although the experience is different for everyone, for Shuichi it is clear that there is a past to which he does not have access, now we know where the bond between all originates and because Shuichi simply does not remember anything about his childhood in the booster school and everything that has to do with his transformation.
United by secrets and memories
It remains to be clarified what was happening and what Elena was really talking about when she asked the alien if it was possible to give the power of the coins to another person and that when they were given it they were presented in a specific way, we saw this in the first episodes and so far we have only seen fragments of the truth, so nothing has been clarified.
It could be said that it is now clearer that Elena and Naoto, are trying to stop Kaito and whoever, than that thing or the person that accompanies him. It is not entirely clear what is happening but based on what we saw we can speculate that the same thing that killed Shuichi’s parents also killed the Clair and Elena and that was the reason why Elena left her sister, to protect her by not having a link with her, preventing the Kaito monster from searching for her. Basically for the same reasons it is understood that Elena erases all the memories related to her to Shuichi.
Shuichi
Shuichi did not know it but he has a past and many dark secrets in which, something important and worth mentioning is that it was Shuichi who decided that he would use the coin to obtain power if it was necessary to do it as a result of Kaito, but then That means that Elena did not force him to become the monster of the suit, that or that Shuichi asked the alien for another power and the dog suit imposed it on Elena, which remains unclear. It is clear that if Shuichi remembers his past his life will be in imminent danger, what I do not understand is because the foolishness of not giving him any explanation, it seems obvious that the more they try to keep their memories from returning to him, the more he insists on describe the truth. For now it seems like the only way to keep him safe, but leaving things like that is making him keep trying to find a solution anyway.
Is he really the weak person that everyone believes?
I think not, and little by little Shuichi has been showing that there is much more to it than meets the eye, so I would not rule out the possibility that there is something darker pending to be revealed and that Shuichi himself be at the center of it.
For her part, Clair, despite not knowing what is happening, is more than determined to discover what is really happening and what happened between her sister and Shuichi before he saves her life. Clair discovered a stuffed toy at the Reinforcement School that is identical to Shuichi’s monster costume. What is special about that figure between Elena and Shuichi?
Aiko’s Revenge
Unlike what we thought it was never Elena’s evil that was behind it all, she was simply protecting everyone she could from Aiko’s revenge and the only way was to break the bond. This monster is only interested in the ties between people, the bond that unites them, without this it does not matter who the person or monster is.
Another thing they did not explain is why is it so important that this thing does not hit Shuichi? For now our journey ends here together but I can tell you that I have really enjoyed all this mystery and that I hope later on we will have a closure that satisfies curiosity and removes the tickle of doubt that has left us all who follow this anime.
