Listeners caught something else. The lyrics reference Maki and Mai Zenin’s sisterly bond. Readers of Gege Akutami’s work recognised the emotional layer immediately.
Runners-Up
Second place went to Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End‘s second season. Mrs. GREEN APPLE’s “lulu.” captured the show’s mix of warmth and melancholy. The lyrics nod to the elf and Himmel’s long-deferred connection.
