A leak posted on the Weibo social network revealed that the manga was written and illustrated by Fujita, Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashiiis about to make an important announcement regarding the future of its serialization. Rumors suggest that it will be a statement about the final stretch of the manga. The series currently has more than 11 million copies sold in physical and digital formats.
Fujita started publishing the manga through the website Comic pool from the publisher Ichijinsha In November 2015, however, he had already published it as a webcomic on Pixiv since April 2014. The publisher published the tenth compilation volume on February 26th in Japan.
Ultimately, the piece inspired an eleven-episode anime adaptation produced by the studios. A-1 picturesunder the guidance and scripts of Yoshimasa hiraike, published April 2018. To date, it has inspired two OVAs, the second of which is included in the special edition of the 10th compilation volume mentioned above.
Summary of Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii
After ignoring her four alarms, the spirited Narumi Momose is late for her first day at work in a new office. As she runs to catch her train, she makes a promise that none of her employees will discover her dark secret: that she is an otaku and a fujoshi. However, his plan immediately goes wrong when he meets Hirotaka Nifuji, an old friend from high school. Although she tries to keep her secret by asking him for a drink after work, her cover flies when he casually asks her whether or not she will attend the next summer comiket. Fortunately, the only witnesses, Hanako Koyanagi and Tarou Kabakura, are also otaku.
Later that night, the couple went out for a drink to catch up after so many years. After Narumi complained that her previous boyfriend broke up with her because he refused to go out with a fujoshi, Hirotaka suggests that she try to meet another otaku, especially him. He makes a solemn promise to always be there for her, support her and help her drop her farm in Monster Hunter. Surprised by the proposal, Narumi immediately accepts. So the two otaku begin dating, and their delightfully uncomfortable romance begins.
