After a serialization of eleven years and seven months since September 2009, the work was completed on April 9, 2021. To date, 33 compilation volumes have been published and the literary franchise has more than 100 million copies in circulation worldwide. The final volume is due to be released in Japan on June 9th and will also be available in a special edition.
The franchise inspired an animated adaptation that has been broadcasting seasons of the latest title since 2013 Shingeki no Kyojin: The final season Broadcast in December 2020 in Japan with a total of 16 episodes, which confirms a second part for the winter season 2022 (January-March).
