The official Twitter account for live action movies Fullmetal Alchemist announced that the series will feature two new live-action films in May and June. The first, Hagane no Renkinjutsushi: Kanketsu-hen – Fukushūsha Scar (Fullmetal Alchemist: Final Chapter – The Avenger Scar) will be released on May 20th and will feature Edward’s battle with the character Scar.
The Second Movie, Hagane no Renkinjutsushi: Kanketsu-hen – Saigo no Rensei (Fullmetal Alchemist: Final Chapter – The Final Transmutation), will be released on June 24th and will feature the final fight in history. The account streamed a trailer featuring Romi Park’s narrator Edward Elric’s original voice actor in the anime.
The films will have a cast returning from the first live-action. As protagonists we will see Ryosuke Yamada (member of Hey! Say! JUMP and Nagisa from Live Action Assassination Classroom) as Edward Elric, Atomu Mizuishi (Garo – Makai no Hana, Prince of Tennis 2) as Alphonse Elric (vocals and motion capture), Tsubasa Honda (Futaba from Blue Spring Ride Live Action) as Winry Rockbell and Dean Fujioka (Happy Marriage!? Live Action) as Roy Mustang.

Other performers are: Misako Renbutsu as Riza Hawkeye, Kanata Hongou as Envy, Ryuta Sato in the role of Maes Hughes and Shinji Uchiyama in the role of Gluttony. Fumihiko Sori (live-action ping pong) returns to direct the film.
The films commemorate the 20th anniversary of Hiromu Arakawa’s original Fullmetal Alchemist manga. Film distributors in Japan had anticipated the project with the website vengeance-scar.jp and footage with a Scar in live action.
The first live-action film had its world premiere at the Tokyo International Film Festival in October 2017 before opening in Japan in December 2017. The film was also shown on IMAX and 4DX screens in Japan. the Film topped at the box office Japanese on his first weekend. Netflix premiered the film in February 2018.
The film has been released in over 190 countries around the world including the United States and Europe. According to the film’s official website, it was the largest international premiere for a Japanese live-action or animated film.
