Goku and Vegeta have always been the focus Dragon Ball great. The two protagonists have been sidelined this time in favor of a much younger couple made up of their children. After all, it was Goten and Trunks in Chapter 88 of the manga who acted as the main characters after years of disappearing from the big stages.
This new saga started with Goten and Trunks being superheroes, or at least aspiring ones. Just like Gohan, they have created their own version of the Great Saiyaman, complete with a uniform and a transformation device. However, this led to conflicting opinions due to the behavior of Trunks, who here, we recall, is only fourteen years old.
This saga threatens to ruin Trunks? Obviously, many have the idea of Trunks of the Future, the one who was born and lived all his life under the android regime of terror and with an almost completely destroyed and ruined earth. That Trunks, who had to endure the loneliness and especially the death of Gohan, his dearest friend and teacher, inevitably has a different maturity. The Trunks of the present, now evolving into Dragon Ball Super, was instead able to count on a period of peace and growing up in tranquillity, moreover in the company of a Goth of practically the same age.
Trunks of the Future and Trunks of the Present are clearly different, as Toyotaro also points out, and for this reason it cannot be assumed that the young and current version will be like the one that debuted during the Android saga. Old Trunks is more of an echo of Vegeta, while the current boy can afford to live a more carefree life and do what he wants, maybe become much more like the Trunks seen during Dragon Ball GT.
Do you know how this Trunks thing came about? Toyotaro explained it in a recent interview.
