Taniguchi started publishing the manga in the magazine Comic Newtype from the publisher Kadokawa in May 2018. The publisher published the third compilation volume in November 2019.
Furthermore, the original series was produced by studios Sunrise, directed by Goro Taniguchi and written by Ichiro Okouchi, with original designs of CLAMP. The story centers on the exiled prince Lelouch vi Britannia, who gains the “power of absolute obedience” from a mysterious woman named C.C.
The series was broadcast in Japan through the channel MBS in October 2006, with a total of 25 episodes, to later air a second season in April 2008, also with 25 episodes. The franchise inspired adaptations to manga and light novels, as well as a series of compilation movies that ended with a new movie that expanded on the original story.
