Watanabe started publishing the manga through the magazine Weekly Shonen Champion from the publisher Akita Shoten in February 2008, and the publisher has so far published a total of 73 anthologies. The piece inspired a total of four anime seasons, the first having 38 episodes and premiering in October 2013, followed by a second of 24 episodes that were released in October 2014 and a third of 25 episodes that were released in January 2017 and a fourth of twenty-five episodes released in January 2018.
Yowamushi Pedal Summary
Sakamichi Onoda is a cheerful otaku who wants to join his new school’s anime club to finally make some friends. Unfortunately, the club has broken up and he takes it upon himself to revive it by finding students ready to join. Without much luck, Onoda decides to take a tour of Akihabara on his bulky old city bike, a weekly 90-kilometer ride that he has been doing since fourth grade. There he met his first grader Shunsuke Imaizumi, a determined cyclist who uses the steep hill from school for training. Surprised by Onoda’s ability to climb the hill on his special type of bike, Imaizumi challenges him to a race and suggests joining the anime club if Onoda wins. And so the youngster’s first foray into the world of high school cycling begins.
