A leak from China confirmed that the manga was written and illustrated by Rumiko Takahashi, Urusei yatsura, will have a new anime adaptation. The leak contained a promotional image and a special visual from Takahashi that will be captured when the official information becomes public. Production details will be announced shortly, but the premiere is slated for 2022 via the television network. Fuji TV.
The cast will also differ from the original version produced in 1981 and will look like this:
- Sumire Uesaka (Hayase Nagatoro in Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san) plays rum and replaces Fumi hirano.
- Hiroshi Kamiya (Levi Ackerman in Shingeki no Kyojin) will play and replace Ataru Moroboshi Toshio Furukawa.
On the other hand, Takahashi published the original manga in the magazine Weekly Shonen Sunday from the publisher Shogakukan between September 1978 and February 1987, the work was compiled in 34 volumes. The manga inspired a 195 episode animation adaptation, a series of films, and a series of OVAs in October 1981.
Summary of Urusei Yatsura
Not much is known about the lustful Ataru Moroboshi, but his extraordinary bad luck sticks out like horns on an alien’s head. When the earth is threatened by a fleet of alien invaders called Oni, Ataru is chosen to represent humanity in a duel against one of them. It is a stroke of luck for Ataru that the duel is actually a catch game and that his opponent is Lum, the daughter of the leader of the Oni, who puts her personal dignity above victory when Ataru accidentally takes off the top of her bikini and gets it Victory. Misfortune occurs again, however, when Lum Ataru’s promise to marry his girlfriend Shinobu Miyake forges that he wants to marry Lum and decides he likes the idea. She exercises her influence as an extraterrestrial princess and moves in with him.
