The first season’s 25-episode run in spring 2024 built something rare—a story that balances genuine tension with comedic timing so sharp it could cut glass.

What we know about the new season
The new season will adapt the Yamaoka arc from Katsuhisa Minami’s original manga. This is where Minami stopped pulling punches and started digging into the protagonist’s training background. It’s also where the “no killing” rule faces its most serious stress test yet.
Ryousuke Takahashi returns to the director’s chair, reuniting with the same animation studio. The first season worked because Takahashi understood something crucial: the comedy lands harder when the violence feels genuinely dangerous.

What makes The Fable special
An infallible assassin receives an order to disappear for one year. If he kills anyone during that time, his own organisation eliminates him. What follows is an absurd mix of everyday situations where a man accustomed to death tries to understand how a supermarket works, how to make friends, and how to endure boring civilian life.
Normal life requires its own set of skills, and people who excel in specialised fields often find ordinary existence utterly baffling.
The first season trailer should drop within the coming months, at which point we’ll get a clearer picture of when this peculiar neighbour returns to our screens.
