Author’s official website Isuna Hasekura released a special video to announce that a new anime project based on his light novel series Ookami to Koushinryou (Spice & Wolf) got the green light.
The announcement doesn’t state whether the anime will be a sequel, a remake, or an original work, but it does contain slogans “Shall we embark on another journey?” and “The story of Holo the wise wolf and Lawrence the merchant continues”. The literary series is currently celebrating its 15th anniversary.

The work inspired a manga adaptation by Keito Koume, which was published between September 2007 and December 2017.
The franchise also inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by Imagine studiosdirected by Takeo Takahashi and written by Naruhisa Arakawa, published January 2008 and distributed in the West by Funimation. A twelve-episode second season was produced by Brain’s Base Studios and Marvy Jackand published in July 2009.
“Holo is a powerful wolf deity celebrated and venerated in the small town of Pasloe to bless the annual harvest. But as the years passed and the villagers became more self-sufficient, Holo, calling himself the “Wise Wolf of Yoitsu,” was reduced to a simple folk tale. When a traveling merchant named Kraft Lawrence stops in Pasloe, offers Holo to become his business partner if he finally takes her to his northern home, Yoitsu.
The seasoned merchant recognizes Holo’s unusual ability to judge a person’s character and accepts his proposal. Now that he has both great business skills and a charismatic negotiator, Lawrence is getting closer and closer his goal to open his own shop. However, as Lawrence travels the country with Holo in search of economic opportunity, he begins to realize that his aspirations are beginning to morph into something unexpected.
