Soichiro Yamamoto, author of the acclaimed series Karakai jozu no Takagi-san, returned in March 2019 with a new story, the romantic comedy titled Soredemo Ayumu wa Yosetekuru, or "Ayumu, when do you make your move?", which began as a webcomic in 2018 and will see an animated adaptation in 2022.

The confirmation of the production of an anime for the story of Ayumu had arrived last July and in the last few hours the official website of the series has confirmed its intention to release the adaptation later this year, which also shows the short teaser available in the news above. The main characters' voice actors were also revealed: Yohei Azakami will play Ayumu, Kanna Nakamura will voice Urushi Yaotome, while Tsubasa Gouden and Hina Yomiya will play Takeru and Mikage, respectively. The four characters were also presented through character designs reported below.

In short, the story has Ayumu as the protagonist, a high school freshman and passionate Shogi, a strategy board game developed in Japan in the 16th century. When she joins the school's shogi club, Ayumu meets and falls in love with Urushi, a second-year senpai at the club. However, Ayumu promises himself don't confess your feelings to Urushi until he wins a game against her.
