Via his official Twitter account, the author Souichirou Yamamoto confirmed that his sleeve Soredemo Ayumu wa Yosetekuru ((Even so, Ayumu is approaching the final) will inspire an anime adaptation to be released in 2022. The author published a special commemorative picture, and so did the publisher Kodansha posted a promotional video. More details on production will be announced shortly.
Yamamoto began releasing the manga as a webcomic entitled Shougi no yatsu published in 2018 and via his personal Twitter account. It then began its publication through the magazine Weekly Shonen Magazine from the publisher Kodansha The publisher published the fifth compilation volume on October 16 and the sixth on January 15, in which confirmation of this leak is expected.
Souichirou Yamamoto is also the author of the manga Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san ((Tease Master Takagi-san) published through the magazine Monthly Shonen Sunday of Shogakukan since June 2013 with thirteen compilation volumes and two seasons of an anime adaptation of Shin-egg animation till date.
Synopsis of Soredemo Ayumu wa Yosetekuru
On a whim, Ayumu Tanaka leaves the Kendo Club for the first year to join the illegitimate Shogi Club. Urushi Yaotome, club president and Shogi teacher, is happy to finally find a playmate. As Ayumus Senpai, Urushi strives to be their Shogi mentor and role model for students. But all too often he blushes with embarrassment! With a fairly honest face, Ayumu sees no problem in calling her “cute” and while her feelings are obvious, she does not admit them, promising himself that he will beat her in a shogi game first.
During their school life and their shogi games, the two students will have many fun and heartwarming adventures. Ayumu is enjoying every second with urushi but is still far from beating her in a shogi match. With the commitment he has made to himself, will Ayumu ever get the chance to confess her feelings to Urushi?
