The fourth promotional video for the anime adaptation of the light novels was revealed during a special broadcast Kanata yanagino and illustrated by Case saga rin, Saihate not a paladin (The distant paladin). The video is a reminder that the series is mid-air and announces three new members to the cast, including:
- Kenji-nomura like Reystov, an adventurer.
- Minoru Inaba like Bagley, the chief bishop.
- Atsushi Tamaru as Ethelbald, brother of the King of the Fertile.
The series has aired in Japan since last October 9th and is confirmed with a total of twelve episodes while Crispy roll takes care of sales in the west. On the other hand, Yanagino began publishing these light novels with illustrations by Rin in March 2016 through the publisher’s label Overlap bunkowhile the publisher OVERLAP released the fourth volume in September 2017 in Japan.
Production team
- Yuu Nobuta (Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai, High School Fleet, Shuumatsu no Harem) is responsible for directing the anime in the studios Children’s playground entertainment.
- Tatsuya Takahashi (Domestic na Kanojo, Eromanga Sensei, Kenja no Mago) is responsible for writing and maintaining the scripts.
- Kouji Haneda (Orenchi no Furo Jijou, Scared Rider Xechs, Sengoku Paradise Kiwami) is responsible for character design.
- H-el-ish // plays the opening song titled “The Sacred Torch” while Nagi Yanagi performs the final theme song “Shirushibi”.
Saihate no Paladin synopsis
In a city of the dead, long destroyed and far from human civilization, there lives one single human child. His name is Will and he is raised by three undead: the sturdy skeletal warrior Blood; the graceful mummified priestess Mary; and the grumpy spectral wizard Gus. All three shower the boy with love and teach him everything they know. But one day Will begins to wonder, “Who am I?”
Will must uncover the secrets of the distant land of death and uncover the secret past of the undead. He must learn the love and mercy of the good gods and the fanaticism and madness of the bad. And when he knows everything, the boy takes his first step on the way to becoming a paladin. “I promised you. It will take a while, but I’ll tell you everything.
