Dragon Ball has a very long history and has therefore been able to land on different platforms. From the first appearances on the consoles of the old millennium to the last with Dragon Ball FighterZ and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, the artistic and graphic style has developed significantly. There remains a certain charm in the old pixel art proposals, however.
Summer 1 user Derlon imagined a cover from a. in front hypothetical Dragon Ball Z video game for very old consoles. In the first image, available in the tweet below, Goku is preparing to launch his iconic Kamehameha with a graphical implementation that comes very close to the pixel decades ago. In the other three images, the user changes the cards on the table based on different types of pixel art.
In fact, each console could be based on a different number of colors. In a picture that is in shades of orange, Goku is made in 2 bits, while the next one reproduces the typical palette of the first Game Boy in shades of green. Finally, the tweet suggests the Pico8 version, an imaginary virtual machine and console that has become particularly popular for Celeste in recent years and that has 16 colors.
Would you like a modern Dragon Ball game but with this artistic style?
