The Fishmen are one of the most distinctive races in the saga of ONE PIECE. These hybrid beings between humans and fish of various species that inhabit the depths of the ocean have long been mentioned by Eiichiro Oda, but it was not until the beginning of the New World saga that we delved into their situation in more detail.

Now so much time has passed since this fish people saga held court around volume 65 while ONE PIECE has now reached volume 105. This saga, like all others, was overseen by an editor from Weekly Shonen Jump, who assisted Eiichiro Oda and other authors in the elaboration of their weekly chapters. Obviously the editor's role is very delicate as he has to combine the mangaka's will with that the need to suggest suitable content for the magazine and is aimed at the readers of Weekly Shonen Jump.

Precisely because of one of these meetings, a scene that reappeared on the Internet was deleted. This scene was taken straight into the Fishmen saga as it spoke of the introduction of Hody Jones and Van Der Decken, two of the most dangerous Fishmen of this part of the story. As Artur points out in his tweet below, Eiichiro Oda, who is delivering the chapter's drafts about 17 days before official release, received from his editor at the time, Isaka, delete two cartoons starring hody jones and van der blankets surprised, as he felt it would lessen the tension in the story. Oda complied with the request. The change is thus noted in the images, with the two central cartoons disappearing completely without being replaced.

Although it may seem like a small thing, this is part of it delicate work of the editor who, Oda also believes, is actually the first reader of a ONE PIECE chapter. And always going back in time, did you know that the kidnapping of Bibi was already planned by Eiichiro Oda?
