With chapter 1057, in ONE PIECE The Wano saga has come to an end. The Straw Hat Pirates’ stay on Samurai Island was a very long stay, at least as far as the publication on Weekly Shonen Jump is concerned, since it lasted three years. And the conclusion of this saga means something else for the manga.
As previously confirmed by Eiichiro Oda, ONE PIECE is now entering its latest story arc. It will take some time, maybe three or five years according to the author, to complete the story and see Luffy reach the great treasure left by Gol D. Roger and Joy Boy in Laugh Tale, but the end is in now the air. Readers have already spoken out about the situation, but there are insiders speaking out as well.
Producer Shinji Shimizu, in charge of the anime ONE PIECE, commented on the situation. “I hope that the public will feel this passage of the series in the final stages. I believe ONE PCEIE will be one of the best and biggest comic book franchises out there once he has completed his last arc. I say this because I spoke to Sensei Oda and he suggested the direction the manga will go. This series has been aired on TV with the anime, of course there is also the once-a-week release of the manga.”
The producer of the ONE PIECE anime therefore knows something about the sequel, although it is likely that Oda has not given him many details about what will happen. The fact is that his idea will probably be realized in a few years.
