The Death of Doctor Strange miniseries finally lived up to its name: Stephen Strange is dead and a new Sorcerer Supreme has taken his place. The adventures of this deputy of the master of mystical arts are told Strange, which Marvel Comics previewed the first number.
A few weeks ago, Marvel revealed the identity of the new Sorcerer Supreme: It Is Clea, wife of Stephen Strange, formerly “Sorceress Supreme” of the Dark Dimension, a mystical realm controlled by the demon Dormammu, his uncle.
That shows the preview of the first issue by Jed MacKay and the artist Marcelo Ferreira Clea’s first major opponent as Sorcerer Supreme will be Victor von Doom, the Doctor Doom enemy of the Fantastic Four and leader of the state of Latveria.
“Stephen’s approach to his role as Sorcerer Supreme has changed over the years, but he’s essentially always seen himself as a doctor.” explains MacKay.”Clea, on the other hand, comes from a family of fierce conquerors, and her views on how to properly fulfill her duties are influenced by her origins. She’s not even native to Earth, she’s more of an alien queen, heir to the title of Warlord, and we’ll see how that affects her in her role as Sorcerer Supreme.“.
About Clea’s new look in the Strange series, said MacKay: “The biggest inspiration comes from Alex Ross’ Earth X design, which looks great and deserves a revisit. We wanted to create something that appealed to Stephen, so having her inherit the hood seemed like the right choice“.
Strange #1 will be released on March 2, 2022 in the United States. In the gallery below we share the preview of the number, along with the cover by BjΓΆrn Barends.
