- Magic is not something used only for oneself, but for others. “Mahou Wa Spice” was created with that warm and close feeling that Witch Watch transmits. I hope this song illuminates the day to day of those who listen to it and make them feel happier.
Premiere Details
The manga-turned-anime narrative picks up from its commencement on Shonen Jump Plus, a digital platform launched in February 2021. In Witch Watch’s world—distinctly different even amidst the witching circles—the protagonist Nico Wakatsuki (voiced again by Ryouta Suzuki) has emerged victorious after six years of rigorous training as an adept sorceress.
Yet her newfound independence is tinged with a peculiar clause: to accompany another human, specifically someone she deems ‘relatable.’ She selects Morihito “Moi” Otogi—a childhood friend turned reluctant ogre (voiced by Kouhei Masasaki)—as the ideal candidate. Far from wishing him as his familiar or animal companion due to ominous family curses that would otherwise reduce him into an unlikely hybrid, Nico finds solace in her choice.
Together they face a myriad of trials within Tokyo’s urban sprawl—filled with misadventures and mishaps orchestrated by Morihito’s magical pranks. His intentions are pure: he aims not only at protecting his beloved but also fulfilling the expectations set upon him as their ‘relative.’

Witch Watch synopsis
Nico Wakatsuki has finished his six years of training as a witch and moves alone to the city. As a new witch, you must choose a relative to accompany her. However, unlike the other witches, you want to choose a relative other than an animal. There is no better partner than Morihito “Moi” Otogi, his childhood friend who turns out to be an ogre. Morihito is vehemently opposed to be his servant, but he reluctantly accepts his destiny after learning that a curse would make him a strange cow and tiger hybrid if he disobeyed the order of a witch.
Because Morihito’s father leaves business trip and Nico’s mother stays in the Holy Land of Witches, the two teenagers are living together under the same roof. Although Nico is delighted to live with his love, Morihito discovers that his magical pranks and his clumsiness create more problems than solutions. With a prophesied disaster that will fall on Nico in a year, Morihito must do everything possible to protect her as her bodyguard, while fulfilling her duties as her relative.
