A press release announced that the light novels were written by mayoidoufu and illustrated by kurogin, Kuro no Shoukanshi (Black Summoner: The Rise of a Battle Maniac), will have an anime adaptation. The press release confirmed the cast and production team, adding that the premiere is slated for this year in Japan.

Mayoidoufu began publishing the novel independently through the website Shousetsuka ni Narou and to date it has already circulated more than 1.4 million copies published through the publisher OVERLAP in Japan since June 2016. A manga adaptation by Gin Amou will be published via the service Comic Gardo since January 2018.
