Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was a big hit in Japan. the Prequel to the story by Yuji Itadoriwhich we remember as canon, presented a new protagonist in the world of wizards and curses, but also outlined some events that have major implications for the main series.
Now that the film has been archived, Studio MAPPA can once again participate in work on Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen, which has finally been announced and will debut in 2023. It will take another year, at least 12 months, during which the studio will have to give all their energy to better realize the next story arcs. And in that regard how many chapters will Jujutsu Kaisen 2 adapt and what narrative arcs?
Let’s start with the latter. If season 2 of the series followed a similar path to the previous one and had 24 or 25 episodes, then surely the arcs would be two. They seem few, but they are not: the first arc consists of 15 chapters, the second of 58. They will therefore appear on the screen the Hidden Inventory arc and the Shibuya Incident arc, the latter of which is highly anticipated by anyone who has read the manga and could prove to be the true lynchpin of the entire anime. Consequently, by combining these two, Overall, Jujutsu Kaisen 2 would fit into 73 chaptersmuch more than in the first season, which had adapted 63 instead.
Though removed, the possibility of season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen integrating Film 0 shouldn’t be ruled out, as should Ufotable for Demon Slayer season 2. This choice would not be well-received by fans, as studio MAPPA would have to create a season of only 12 episodes and only “Hidden Inventory” as the narrative arc, after which the re-adaptation of the events of Jujutsu would follow Kaisen 0 for the rest of the episodes. A possibility that would unnecessarily delay the key episodes of the story.
