In the West in particular, there are numerous generations that we grew up with Shaman King, 2001 anime adaptation, did not come to Italy until 2005, of the manga by Hiroyuki Takei. The announcement, however, divided the community in two, between those who finally hope to be faithfully adapted to the original work and those who instead fear disaster.

Staff have already announced that the project will cover all volumes of the story and, on top of that, will receive a number of additions requested by Shueisha. It was therefore legitimate, for obvious reasons, to expect a production that would go well beyond 25 episodes, and in fact some of the expectations were maintained. This has actually been confirmed by the data from the home video edition The anime will have a total of 52 episodes.

Someone expressed disappointment as the staff had previously adjusted 20 of the 35 available volumes in about 60 episodes and the small number of episodes could force production to cut multiple parts of the work. Anyway The Shaman King is about to arrive in Japan in 2021 already in the next few days, while in Italy we will only see it on Netflix during the course of the year.

And you, on the other hand, what do you expect from this restart, are you excited or are you afraid of adapting worse than the previous one? We are waiting to be able to admire the work in Bel Paese as well, and refer you to our special on our considerations and doubts about Shaman King 2021.
