Weekly Shonen Jump is a magazine that demands a lot from its mangaka. A weekly release is no joke and can lead to long-term physical problems. In fact, there are many authors who have encountered problems of a physical nature due to the very high production rates of their manga.
Although the situation has slowly improved in recent years and Weekly Shonen Jump takes breaks from its mangakas whenever there are signs of deterioration or at least an imperfect psychophysical state, the effort of drawing 19 pages a week is in any case a lot . .
Last year he returned to Jump Kenta Shinohara. The author has already published Sket Dance in the same magazine between 2007 and 2013 and thus has a lot of experience behind him. He also published Astra Lost in Space in digital magazine Shonen Jump+ a few years ago. So it has one established routine recently revealed on Twitter. When asked by a fan, it shows how long it takes him to work and how much time he spends on other activities per day.
In the diagram below, we see Kenta Shinohara sleeping from 2 a.m. to about 7:30 a.m., only five and a half hours. He then works from 9 to 11.5, takes an hour break, works from 12:30 to 18:30 and resumes work in the evening from 21 to 2. In total, he works around 14 hours a day.
Certainly a grueling routine that goes on 7 days of the week without a break.
