Dragon Ball Super: Superhero has not yet completed its theatrical program in Japan, that TOEI Animation has already started work on the next film. However, box office reports on the latest film related to Akira Toriyama’s masterpiece have fallen short of expectations.
For clarity, the figures presented here refer to the first month of distribution of each of the films compared. The user hypea well-known face in the industry, has created an iconography to compare the box office earnings for the first month of Super Hero to the three previous features.
If we find some linearity in terms of revenue for battle of the gods (312 rooms), Resurrection of Frieza (653 increases at the beginning of the month, 390 at the end of the month) e DBS: Broly (467 screens), compared to the last film, the decline is obvious. In fact, we’re talking about it about $14.5 million, exactly half of previous productions. In any case, it’s good to keep in mind that these numbers are by no means indicative of a “flop” as they are still high overall, but rather reflect the downsides of the anomalous distribution of “Super Hero” (371 rooms). The film was actually postponed due to the TOEI Animation hack, not to mention that it received an ambiguous marketing campaign and the value of the yen, which was higher in 2018.
All factors that have therefore contributed to a decline in collections that are still very important. And you instead, what do you think of these numbers? Let us know with a comment below.
