During this year’s edition of the program Destiny project Oomisoka TV Special 2020 ((Destiny Project 日 晦 日 TV ス ペ シ ャ ル 2020), the production of a new series of OVAs entitled Fate / Great Carnival. The first season will premiere on June 2, 2021, followed by the second season on August 25, 2021. While not much has been explained about this new project, it is obvious that it is directly related to the project Carnival phantasm, only that the inclusion of Fate / Grand Order (denoted by the presence of Mash Kyrielight and Gudako) implied the name change.

  • Fate / Great Carnival

Although no details of the distribution of these “seasons” were given in production, the details of the Blu-ray / DVD versions released on the dates above have been posted on the official website:

  • First season: June 2, 2021, with a content of approximately 30 minutes.
  • Second season: August 25, 2021, content approx. 30 minutes.

Production team

  • Seiji Kishi ((Angel beats!, Ansatsu Kyoushitsu, Carnival phantasm), is responsible for project management in the studies lark.
  • Makoto uezu ((Akame ga Kill!, Arslan Senki (TV), Carnival phantasm) is responsible for writing and monitoring the scripts.
  • Kazuaki Morita ((Ansatsu Kyoushitsu, Carnival phantasm) and Tomohito Hirose ((Ansatsu Kyoushitsu, Carnival phantasm) are responsible for the character design and the direction of animation.
  • Yasuharu Takanashi ((Carnival phantasm, fairy tale, Gunjou no Magmell) is responsible for composing the soundtrack.

Carnival Phantasma Synopsis

How do you resolve a conflict between powerful ghosts of famous heroes fighting for a price that can grant every wish? Wage a war that costs blood, sweat and tears? Too much work, how about a game show competition?

Carnivel Phantasm takes various characters from Type-Moon’s original works and places them in a variety of lighthearted settings that parody their respective series. Watch as Lancer suffers from his lousy “lucky” status or watch the selfish King of Heroes kneel cheerfully before a Dominatrix King of Knights. Remember to leave your sanity at the door before entering.
