Following the Death of Justice League screenwriter’s tweet anticipating the arrival of a new crisis, DC Comics announced Dark Crisis, the next big crossover that will rewrite the DC Multiverse. It will be a seven-part event starting next June.
Written by Joshua Williamson and illustrated by Daniel Sampere, Dark Crisis is anticipated by Dark Crisis #0 FCBD Special Editionwhich will be distributed free of charge on the occasion of the next Free Comic Book Day, May 7th, 2022. DC will then release a second prologue with the one One shot Justice League: Road to Dark Crisis #1before the event officially opens with the release of Dark Crisis #1 in June.
“Dark Crisis is an epic legacy themed DCU event“explains Williamson.”There will be all the huge, fun cosmic battles and multiverse environments, but it’s not about reboots, retcons, or space-time rewrites. The focus of the story is the characters and relationships we’ve seen throughout the great DC history. Evolving from ‘Death of Justice League’, Dark Crisis ties together every storyline for the DCU since Infinite Frontier #0. We will unify the new DCU legacy while honoring the classics. You can’t miss it!“.
“In my opinion, Dark Crisis is a great celebration for all DC fans“adds Sampere.”It’s a big event with a lot of heart, an event that embraces the past while looking to the future. Joshua and I are huge DC fans and this is our declaration of love to these characters and this universe“.
With the announcement of Dark Crisis DC Comics also released a trailer for the event, which we share at the beginning of the article. The first step towards Dark Crisis is made by Justice League #75, an album due out in April in which DC will narrate the death of the Justice League.
