In the very first moments of Black clover, we see two small children being abandoned in front of the door of Hage’s church. Raised in poverty in an orphanage in the plebeian region of the Clover Kingdom, these two children are two of the most powerful wizards in the Magic Knights today. Why was Asta abandoned?
In the last episode of the Black Clover anime, which has been on hiatus for a year, viewers got to know Licita. The woman has awakened the little demon love as if he were her son, but then why didn’t she give her love to Asta? In the latest chapter of Yuki Tabata, this story is finally explored further.
In the quarrel with Lucifer, the memories of his mother surface again in love. For the first time, Asta observes Licita’s face, but she does he only recognizes as his brother’s mother. These memories strengthen their bond and form a new Devil’s Union mode.
In chapter 328, however, they appear more details about the past. Love remembers that Licita once told him about her real son. The woman revealed that this child was born healthy, but that he had to leave him because of his special powers. If Licita had kept Asta with her, she would have ended up not only draining his mana, but killing him as well.
This decision broke her heart, but Licita he loved Asta even from afar. Maternal love now allows Asta and Love to face Lucifer as equals.
