Recently, cartoonist Sean Murphy was awaiting the announcement on Twitter of a new chapter in Batman White Knight, an out-of-continuity miniseries that started the so-called Murphyverse. Now DC Comics has officially announced the project: It is a miniseries with the title Batman: Beyond the White Knight.
The eight-issue miniseries tells a new story by Terry McGinnis, the Batman of the future, made famous by the animated series 1999 Batman Beyond. The success of the animated series resulted in Terry McGinnis also debuting in comics and starring in various regular comic series in the past.
“I really missed writing about Gotham and it’s great to be doing again“Explains Murphy.”Drawing Neo-Gotham as a futuristic, modernized and re-adapted city was wonderful. I’m working hard to bring the Beyond aesthetic into the White Knight world. Fans of Batman Beyond and Terry McGinnis will be able to enjoy everything they loved about the animated series, along with a few twists and turns.“.
Batman: Beyond the White Knight # 1, written and illustrated by Sean Murphy, will be released on March 29, 2022. It won’t be the only Batman series to debut in March, however: DC Comics has announced Batman Superman Worlds Finest, a team-up series starring Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent.
