Despite Haikyuu has ended for a year, the community fearlessly demonstrates its love for the players at Karasuno High School; an affection that culminated in Haikyuu Day, an impressive anniversary celebrated even by the author Haruichi Furudate.
the Haikyuu Day is celebrated on August 19th, a day that fandom dedicates entirely to celebrating Furudate’s Spokon. But why exactly does this anniversary fall on August 19th? The Japanese title can also be read as “819”, meaning August 8th / 19th, 8th.
Among the many tributes to Haikyuu was that of Haruichi Furudate himself, who created the gorgeous commemorative illustration that you can find in the tweet at the bottom of the article. This unpublished sketch shows the Karasuno team Form the letters “HQ”which can be pronounced similarly to Haikyuu in English.
When the manga is over, everything is silent as far as the animated implementation is concerned. The anime is stopped at season 4, with Karasuno facing the most complex challenge of the Spring Nationals tournament. Nothing is known about a fifth season at the moment, but given the immense popularity of the franchise, it’s only a matter of time before we see the announcement.
We remind you that the Haikyuu series is fully available on Prime Video and that the Haikyuu theme song accompanied the Japanese national volleyball team at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
