The attack of the giants is over But what are the chances of seeing a sequel? Over the past few months, a lot of fans have been debating the making of a sequel or spin-off, and today we finally have an official answer. Editor Shintaro Kawakubo actually revealed the secret during an interview for Kodansha.

When asked about the end of the manga, the editor first spoke of the end of the story: “The final was planned from the start. The direction of the story was later adjusted, but the fate of the protagonists was always sealed. Isayama made history with that ending in mind“The words are practically the same as those the author uttered in a recent interview, which proves that no changes have ever been made to please fans.

The author went on to talk about the manga’s unexpected success and famous scene from Sasha, returning to the now famous episode in which he saved the girl from death by convincing Isayama to make her a more important character. The author then spoke about the rumors about the production of a sequel: “No sequels are currently planned. We’ve read so many requests from fans and we’re very sorry, but Isayama is exhausted. The next serialization has not yet been determined“.

Immediately after the final chapter was published, Hajime Isayama began drawing the additional scenes and all the other bonuses contained in volume 34 of the manga, which will be released no later than June 9, 2021. Now the mangaka is taking a well-deserved break, and then decide whether or not to start a new serialization.
