MAP study published illustrations for episode 20 of Attack on Titan: The Final Season – Part 2. These show two very different scenes from the series. The first shows a moment from the first season, during the training of our protagonists to become members of the research corps.
And it shows a carefree look at a young man Connie Springer in the company of a young girl – and still alive – Sasha blouse who playfully argue with each other. The second image offers a more disturbing look at the current state of the series, showing Eren standing in front of the mysterious tree seen in Attack On Titan 4×19 and linked to all the events of the series.
Images of key events and important people from Eren’s past can be seen in the tree. The illustration was drawn by the episode’s director Teruyuki Omine, who has been working on Attack on Titan since MAPPA took over production of the anime series. Omine previously worked on romantic comedies nisekoi and the anime adaptation of The heroic legend of Arslan from Hiromu Arakawa.
This pair of illustrations is the third set of images released by MAPPA since the airing of the first episode of Attack On Titan – The Final Season – Part 2. The animation studio released a new set of images each week, each coinciding with the mass airing of the new episode of the season. The first sentence focused on Eldiani while the second pair of illustrations focused on that Elenathe anti-Marleyan rebel known for her particularly memorable face, featured in Attack On Titan 4×18.
The latest and final episode of Episodes of Attack On Titan premiered on January 9th. The second half of the season will adapt the remaining chapters of Hajime Isayama’s original manga, which ended in early 2021. While the manga’s ending was met with mixed reactions, the hype surrounding the animated version of the series’ upcoming finale was still so great that users who signed up to watch the first episode of Attack on Titan 4 – Part 2 hit the servers temporarily offline from Crunchyroll.
