Attack of the Giants 4 It was one of the most demanding challenges for Studio MAPPA, which, with so many projects to work on and very tight deadlines, put a strain on the physical and mental health of the company’s employees, including that of the director.
Recently the director of the anime, Hayashi, returned to talk about the saga in a special interview, in which he commented on the recent challenges of the production, on all the difficulties of Part 1 of Attack of the Giants 4 that weigh on the quality. However, the director also talked about some of the more memorable scenes from Part 2, like the sequence with Yelena’s disturbing smile.
MAPPA has indeed managed to animate the character’s gaze very well, and with impressive fidelity at times, just as Isayama envisioned. According to Hayashi, this perfect realization was actually thanks to his previous management experience, that is, thanks kakeguru, whose strength was the strong and emotional looks of the characters. The director explains: “There is a moment of comic relief, or rather horror, in this heartbreaking scene. Such a moment is unique in this series.“
Hayashi wanted to respect the manga as faithfully as possible and given the result, it’s fair to say that he’s completely satisfied. And you instead, what do you think of this scene? As always, please let us know with a comment below.
