The overwhelming success of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 it shows no signs of slowing down, although several weeks have passed since the premiere. The anime film that serves as a prequel to Yuki Itadori’s story also smashes the United States of America with a profit of $30 million.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 premiered in Japanese cinemas on December 24, 2021, but it’s only been a few weeks since its international release. According to Box Office Mojo, the film should have performed well $30 million at the American box office. THE Total revenue is over $162 millionalmost double the $85 million expected by Toho Animation.
With these numbers, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is the top ten grossing anime film in history.
However, the celebrations for this resounding success are being slowed down some major controversy. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 staff apologized to China for a Taiwan problem, but not only. According to insiders, the voice actors’ fee would be absolutely ridiculous.
As we see in the tweet at the bottom of the article, voice actor Jayne Sands, voice of Momo Nishimiya and Utahime Iori, stated that it was her Paid only $150. These words are added to those of other colleagues: Jujutsu Kaisen 0’s voice actors were underpaid. The dubbing industry definitely needs to be revised.
I also want to make it clear that I don’t hold the recording studio responsible for this as they are given budgets to stick to. These changes must come from above. It’s hard to tell if people at the top even hear our pleas or frustrations.
