A possibility that many fans benefit from Demon Hunter would like to see is a series spin off focused on some of the ex pillars Appearing as supporting characters in the series: former Flame Pillar Shinjuro Rengoku, former Water Pillar Sakonji Urokodaki and former Thunder Pillar Jigoro Kuwajima.
If you need a quick refresher: Shinjuro Rengoku was the father of Kyojuro Rengoku, the modern Pillar of Flame who died in battle alongside Tanjiro Kamado during the climax of the Mugen Train Arch. The older version of Shinjuro that we encountered was a broken man who was always drunk.
His backstory has already been anticipated: falling in love with a woman who eventually dies, breaking Shinjuro’s heart, and the slow decline of his sanity and will gets drunk to the point of complete ruin. Seeing Shinjuro happy and heroic in his prime as a demon hunter would be an interesting new look at the character.
Sakonji Urokodaki was the first Demon Slayer sensei Tanjiro ever had. Sakonji is the main master of the water breathing technique and has trained most modern demon hunters in this technique (Giyu Tomioka, Tanjiro, Sabito, Makomo). Sakonji is one of the most mysterious characters of Demon Slayer: he never shows his face in the series, but always presents himself with his characteristic red mask from tengu.
Sakonji’s story has gaps to fill in when and how he learned how to breathe water and became a pillar – all we know is that he ended up capturing the demon hand that the demon slayers use for their selection test. It would be nice to see who is behind this maskhow much of a hero he really was and why he chose to hide his face and devote himself to teaching.
The history of Jigoro Kuwajima it is steeped in tragedy and mystery. We know that it was the former Thunderpillar, who eventually retired to become a teacher of the Thunder Breathing style. While his time as Pillar is largely a mystery, Jigoro’s fate in abandoning one of his two apprentices and becoming a demon (Kaigaku) ββis what led him to do so committing ritual suicide as a mark of dishonor. It would be great to see the honor and service that made Jigoro’s determination so difficult that he ended his life for it.
Of course, the greatest joy in a spinoff series about these three characters wouldn’t just be their individual stories and characterizations β it would be seeing them. interact as a group with other pillars of their time. One of the best parts of Demon Slayer is seeing Tanjiro fight alongside his friends Inosuke and Zenitsu. To see these old loners were part of a lively group would be heartbreaking as well as heartbreaking.
What do you think about it? What kind of Demon Slayer spinoff would you like to see? Do you know why Zenitsu is accompanied by a sparrow in Demon Slayer? We remind you that you can watch Demon Slayer 2 episodes on Crunchyroll.
