Princess Connect! Re:Dive 2 – Chapter 2: Menu 2 – The Moody Cat’s Doubt ~Moonlight Appetizer~
Upon returning from a quest for rainbow silk threads, the ‘Gourmet Guildseparates, Yuuki goes to the place where he needs to drop the thread while his companions will catch up with him later. Arriving at the location, Yuuki is approached by a girl who dresses him in an idol dress, so the same thing happens to Kokkoro and Pecorine when they arrive at the location. Karyl, who arrives last since appearing before Her Majesty for her report, suffers the same fate as her guildmates.
The girls given the thread are Nozomi, Chika and Tsumugi, members of the ‘Carmine Guild‘. To get to know each other better, both guilds eat together, but Yuuki separates to wash. So he is approached by a group called “Carmina Guardians Club” where they first threaten him for approaching and touching one of the idols, but they become friends when they learn that Yuuki was one of those who sent him brought the rainbow silk thread. .
That night Karyl goes out at night when she gets a call Your Majestyto meet Christina on site and have a short chat with her. The next morning, Karyl leaves early for an engagement, spends all day outside, and at night encounters Tsumugi, who is still rehearsing even though her concert is the next day.
On the day of the concert, Christina and Karyl take care of it the shade lost without anyone from the concert knowing about it. These are the orders you received from His Majesty. Exhausted from the end of the battle, Karyl falls asleep under a bridge, but wakes up to hear her guildmates searching for her.
My pretty Karyl
Although inside Princess Connect! Re: Dive 2 – Chapter 2 integrate the ‘Carmine Guild‘, the actual protagonist is Karyl. More details of the character are shown, some of which are already known, but others are quite interesting reveals. After all, so that she expresses herself and herself the “princess knight‘ of this person. I assume she was referring to Her Majesty, which, coupled with Her Majesty’s mention of Karyl being her only blood relative in the world, sent my thoughts skyrocketing at the time.
My suspicions about the meaning of “princess knight“Just keep raising. Mainly because of the little information the animated adaptation has provided. Although I also have a certain feeling telling me not to link Karyl and Your Majesty as “family” or a single person, but are manipulations of Your Majesty.
Coming back to Karyl, I had mixed feelings throughout the episode seeing her emotional swings. Which I thought was pretty well represented. For example, I could feel this uneasiness and fear she showed when being questioned Your Majesty, as well as her embarrassment while wearing the adorable idol outfit (and also in the words of Kokkoro). Also, I felt that Karyl was very much represented by Tsumugi herself, but on a much higher level as she was just a part of her insecurities.
That point about Karyl’s “insecurities” was present throughout, I think Princess Connect! Re: Dive 2 – Chapter 2, and that showed some pretty good character development. As she not only went through emotional and expressive changes, I think it also showed how she starts to find herself thanks to the help of Kokkoro, Pecorine and Yuuki. Which I think was shown at the end of the episode when a “light” started reaching her while she was under the bridge in the dark. Like the cloud moving away from the moon.
Memories of the first season
Just like Karyl had her moment with Your Highness Since it was about events from the first season, I felt the conversation between Kokkoro and Pecorine had a lot more impact. Now Kokkoro knows about Peco’s true identity, but keeps it a secret until the princess herself is ready to tell her friends. Something I found quite interesting because in contrast to his always happy expression, Pecorine showed a more “sad”, melancholic and somewhat “anxious” expression.
Really, what I liked best was seeing so many expressive changes in more than one character Princess Connect! Re: Dive 2 – Chapter 2. With the well-known reactions of Karyl and Kokkoro and their embarrassed expressions, but the changes in Pecorine took me completely by surprise. As if now that she’s been able to keep her secret, she’s at an inner crossroads between remaining in the Gourmet Guild as “Pecorine” or returning as Princess Eustania. That’s what I put down to the fact that he still hasn’t told Karyl and Yuuki his secret.
Of course, Karyl was the character that emerged the most in the episode and therefore the one I think developed the most. However, I also think that Pecorine almost had the development with just that one scene. I hope to continue to see more of this character in Princess Connect! Re: Dive 2even if it’s with the same screen time.
An acquaintance returns to Princess Connect! Re:Dive 2 – Chapter 2
I have to admit that it was quite nice to hear the same opening as the first season, even though it had a different animation, the quality of it was wonderful. With a large number of characters and with their own movements. Of course they weren’t big movements, but there were quite a few and they were active for a short time while maintaining the quality of drawing and movement. I hope he has that quality for the rest of the season.
Speaking of animation quality, I acknowledge that they did pretty well Princess Connect! Re: Dive 2 – Chapter 2. I loved the animation they did in Christina and Karyl’s fight scene against the shadows, especially the one of Christina charging at them with these special effects, like they’re out of phase because they’re in an alternate universe . Including its sound effects.
Also, it seemed to me that Karyl was animated in two different sections in the same scene, one that was her character design and the other that focused on her staff. Which had details for me CGI, but very discreetly. In a perfect balance to give it more “dynamics” which I really loved and would like to use more in the future, but not that it wasn’t overused because I feel like this was an animation test. After all, I don’t remember seeing anything like that in the previous episode.
As for the ending, it was wonderful to see that many images and moments of the ‘Gourmet Guild‘, so many expressions. My favorite was the photo of Karyl sticking out her tongue, although the photo of Pecorine tending to Karyl was also heartwarming. As for the song, it was pretty quiet for my taste. It fits the animation very well and wasn’t bad at all, but I don’t think it will be my favorite of the season.
I appreciate the scene where Karyl is “tied up” by Tsumugi’s band, but I think they should have taken advantage of that.Carmine Guild‘. He had his idol act but he was very in the background compared to ‘Elizabeth Park Guild‘ in the first season. Since his guild had development for the main storyline of the anime and for the related characters (Shiori and Hatsune). Like them, I hope they have more and much more important holdings than in Princess Connect! Re: Dive 2 – Episode 2.
