With Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm, most Star Wars works from the so-called Expanded Universe were excluded from the brand’s official license. With the release of Star Wars #20, some revelations refer heavily to the so-called “Legends” brand, Reintroduction of some elements in the saga.
Star Wars #20, written by Charles Soule and illustrated by Marco Castiello and Rachelle Rosenberg, is set between Episode V and Episode VI and sees Luke Skywalker travel to the planet Gazian to complete his Jedi training. On this “living” planet, Luke manages to contact another Jedi’s conscience who had previously visited the planet: Elzar Mann, a Knight of the High Republic.
Elzar reveals to Luke that even in the High Republic era, some 200 years before the events of Episode I, despite the seeming peace that characterized that period, There were Sith plotting in the shadows. Elzar further explains that peace was only achieved after the (presumed) death of Darth Bane, Character of Weight in the Star Wars Expanded Universe, but that had never been mentioned in the new official canon of the saga until now.
With this quote to Darth Bane, It is possible that plans exist to reintroduce this Sith Lord’s story into the saga, somehow. Star Wars #20 is already available in the US. Meanwhile, a new live-action Star Wars series is currently streaming on Disney+ (here’s our review of The Book of Boba Fett 1×03). Soon we’ll be able to learn more about the High Republic thanks to a video game developed by Quantic Dreams (here’s our preview of Star Wars Eclipse).
