Hiro Mashima did that fanservice one of the many Fairy Tail brands. The protagonists have a respectable physique and have been shown several times in winking or undisguised poses, with censorship or obstacles in the right place. Definitely a shared way to grab the fans, but that sealed the manga’s success.
The Fairy Tail Manga has long since ended, but Hiro Mashima doesn’t give up on it. While devoting himself to EDENS ZERO, his current serialization in Weekly Shonen Magazine, he occasionally publishes some sketches with the protagonists of Fairy Tail in unpublished versions, including couple photos and unique scenes. Occasionally, however, he also surprises the audience with special designs.
This is the case with one of his most recent uploads on his Twitter page. We have seen so many characters dressed in corsets by Playboy Bunny during Fairy Tailbut surely no one expected to see Jellal dressed like that. As can be seen below, it is Erza Scarlet’s love interest in wearing the typical black corset and fishnet stockings, not forgetting the ears on her head.
However, Jellal’s gaze seems to point to a character that this unprecedented change of clothes doesn’t mind. Who knows if we will see it that way in the sequel Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest right under Mashima’s suggestion.
