In the third issue of the magazine Dengeki Maoh from the publisher Kadokawa, the final chapter of the manga adaptation of the spin-off light novels by Keiichi Sigsawa and illustrated by Kouhaku Kuroboshi, Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online, responsible for Tadadi Tamori. The work had already announced in November 2020 that it was about to be completed.
At the time, the author stated that “The adaptation will lead the story to the end of the first arc of the “Squad Jam” from the original light novels.‘On top of that, there are no plans to continue the story from there. In fact, Tamori stated that this adaptation was originally supposed to end with only three volumes but was expanded to four. The author added that there were many reasons for the manga to end, but what came down to it in the end was that it became difficult to continue and that while it wouldn’t have bothered him to continue, it would be fine too if you later decided to continue it with another artist.
Tamori started publishing the manga in the magazine Dengeki Maoh from the publisher Kadokawa The publisher released the third compilation volume in November 2018, and the fourth and final volume will be released in Japan on March 27. Additionally, the spin-off franchise inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by Studio 3Hz and published in April 2018.
