On the official page for the anime adaptation of Light Novels written by Kotoko ayano and illustrated by Chinatsu morimoto, Tsurune: Kazemai Koukou Kyuudoubu, a special New Years visual has been released confirming that the next animated film in the franchise is slated to premiere in cinemas in Japan sometime during the 2022 summer season (July-September).
Ayano and Morimoto began to publish the light novels through the publisher’s label KA Esuma Bunko in December 2016. The publisher published the second volume in February 2018. The work also inspired a twelve-part anime adaptation that was released in October 2018.
Production team
- Takuya yamamura (Purple Evergarden, Hibike! Euphonium) was responsible for directing the anime in the studios Kyoto animation.
- Michiko Yokote (Shirobako, Kujira no Kora wa Sajō ni Utau, Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san) was responsible for writing and overseeing the scripts.
- Miku Kadowaki (Kyoukai no Kanata, Amagi Brilliant Park, Kobayashi-san Chi is not a Maid Dragon) was responsible for the character design.
- Harumi Fuuki (Miss Hokusai, Piano no mori) was responsible for composing the soundtrack.

The story begins when Minato Narumiya goes to high school. Archery Club advisor Mr. Tommy is ready to recruit Minato and his childhood friends Seiya Takehaya and Ryouhei Yamanouchi. Ryouhei convinces the reluctant Minato to attend the club’s briefing, where he meets Kaito Onogi and Nanao Kisaragi. Mr. Tommy selects Minato, introduces him as a rare Japanese archer talent, and asks him to introduce himself to everyone. However, Minato’s arrow misses the mark as it is affected by a serious illness … Minato, Seiya, Ryouhei, Nanao and Kaito. Archery connects them, but what will they get when they go through this beautiful but also bitter phase of youth?
