Through a promotional video shared on his YouTube channel, Netflix presents the house in the waves to the public. The feature film from Studio Colorido, directed by Hiroyasu Ishida and written by Ayashi Mori, will debut on the streaming entertainment service’s catalog in mid-September.

Nominated for Best Animated Film at the 42nd Japan Academy Awards, The House in the Waves is the third Anime film by Studio Colorido, known to the public for Penguin Highway, for which you can find our review. Also known as Drifting Home, The House in the Waves will debut on Netflix on September 16, 2022.

The plot follows the events of young friends Kosuke and Natsume, who find themselves protagonists of a strange phenomenon during summer vacation. While playing in the demolished building they grew up in, they suddenly find themselves in a ship sails on the open sea. All they see around them is an endless expanse of water. The trailer takes us straight to this introduction.

Drifting Home will have a total duration of around two hours, during which the spectators will be accompanied by the protagonists in a Travel in the name of farewell. Will Kosuke and his friends survive the ocean and be able to return home?
