Matt MacLaurin (Vice President of User Experience Design at SIE) explained that the remarkable size of the PlayStation 5 is due to improvements in the console’s cooling system.
The creative explained that the 7 nanometer processor is very powerful, but that due to this it generates an enormous amount of heat, so more space is required to dissipate it. This could indicate at the same time a novel cooling system that the Japanese company would implement on its next-generation console.
What is clear is that it will be somewhat cutting-edge, since MacLaurin assured that the system “will go beyond everything that has been seen so far.”
