A new cast of Savage Avengers is on the way. The Avengers team, which sees Conan as its leader, will be the protagonist of a relaunch that will begin next May. The list of anti-heroes that will make up the new Savage Avengers sees the presence of Elektra, Anti-Venom, Cloak and Dagger, Black Knight, Weapon H and of course Conan the Barbarian.
“Making my Marvel debut with Savage Avengers is like being picked to play as the Yankees and discovering that you’ll also be playing Rangers over the weekend – only I can write Conan the Barbarian, one of fantasy’s most iconic characters , and I can throw him into adventures, wild with a new cast of beloved Marvel characters!‘ he explained David Pepose, called to write Savage Avengers flanked by designer Carlos Magno. “Being able to pair Conan with Daredevil, Anti-Venom, Weapon H, Black Knight, Cloak and Dagger allows me to bring personality and potential to the series, and artist Carlos Magno creates masterpiece after masterpiece bringing these characters to life – I’m not in the mood to show readers what sparks Conan and his gang will fly when they meet the most dangerous Deathlok of them all. Get ready for an epic battle between Cyborg and Cimmeri, because only the “savages” will survive this May…“.
The team led by Conan will actually have to face up the threat of a powerful Deathlok from the future with the aim of hunting down the Savage Avengers. Among the unexpected characters that will be part of the team alongside an Elektra in the role of Daredevil, there’s also Anti-Venom and Weapon Hthe antithesis of a symbiote and hybrid between the Hulk and Wolverine that had long lurked in the Marvel titles.
Also of note is the presence of Black Knighta character who recently made his film debut in Eternals, played by Kit Harington, and whose popularity looks set to increase with his eventual return to screens (here’s our look into the history and power of Black Knight).
The new team of anti-heroes will debut in Savage Avengers #1 on May 4, 2022, by Pepose and Magno. The cover of the first issue was created by Leinil Francis Yu and Sunny Gho, and an additional promotional image by Giuseppe Camuncoli and David Curiel is also available, which we share below.
